The state Office of Science, Technology, and Academic Research (NYSTAR) has awarded Albany Law School a three-year contract to support the school's Science and Technology Law Center.
The center will receive $350,000 a year for three years.
The center, the only one of its kind in the state, will help companies develop and market new technologies while strengthening the state's business infrastructure, the Governor said in a release.
It will also help high-tech startup companies, conduct legal research for NYSTAR, and increase awareness of legal issues relating to technology.
"The center will serve as a critical legal resource for new and emerging technology businesses," the Governor said in a release. He said the center will also "further strengthen our efforts to establish New York State as an international leader in high-tech job creation and economic growth."
