ALBANY—The Business Council of New York State, Inc. is endorsing John McDonald in the 108th State Assembly District, which covers parts of Rensselaer, Albany and Saratoga counties.
"As a small business owner, John McDonald sees firsthand the need for growth and job creation in New York. He understands that to put New York on a path to economic recovery we need to lower taxes and lower the cost of doing business in this state. As Mayor of Cohoes he has worked hard to reduce the cost of government, increase accountability and expand economic opportunity," said Heather Briccetti, president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State, Inc.

I plan to utilize the skills I've learned, especially in regard to business, to guide me in the decisions I make not only representing the residents of the 108th district, but also in helping to make New York State more business friendly which will assist in job creation and job retention," said Cohoes Mayor John McDonald.
As mayor of Cohoes, McDonald turned the $1.4 million deficit he inherited when he entered office into a surplus of just under $2 million in 2011. He accomplished that with strict financial controls and other procedural changes leading to a transparent and open process of conducting city business. Those moves resulted in a significant upgrade in the city's bond rating. It is these kinds of pro-growth measures that have made John McDonald a great mayor and business leader in Cohoes and will make him a great member of the Assembly.
This endorsement comes through the Business Council's Political Action Committee.
