ALBANY— The Business Council of New York State, Inc. is endorsing Tom O'Mara, Republican/Conservative candidate for the New York State Senate in the 53rd Senate district.

“Tom O'Mara has focused on ways in which state government can improve the climate for doing business by cutting taxes, lowering state spending, eliminating overregulation and getting our upstate counties off the list of the most oppressive property tax burdens in the nation,” said Kenneth Adams, president and CEO of The Business Council. “He has also been vocal in his opposition to out-of-control state spending, particularly in New York's billion-dollar-a-week Medicaid program.”

O'Mara supports the Business Council's Enough Already NY campaign's Five to Survive economic reform agenda which includes: a property tax cap; a state spending cap; reducing the tax burden; reforming public employee pensions and limiting government borrowing.

O'Mara also scored 83 percent on The Business Council Voters' Guide, available here.

The endorsement comes through the Business Council's Political Action Committee.

Adams made the endorsement today at the Information Center of Corning, Corning, NY.
