ALBANY— The Business Council of New York State, Inc. is endorsing Republican candidate Andrew Russo in the 49th State Senate District.

“Albany needs new leadership that understands we must lower taxes and bring down the cost of government to create jobs and growth in New York State,” said Kenneth Adams, president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State. “Andrew Russo will bring that leadership to Albany when he is elected to the State Senate.”

“Andrew Russo is not a career politician. He is a world class musician and educator who has a strong commitment to this community and wants to create opportunity for the children of this state,” added Adams. “He knows that to create those opportunities New York must spend less and we must lower state and local taxes to allow our economy to thrive.”

“His opponent, Sen. David Valesky, has voted with his party's leadership to impose billions of dollars of new taxes in the last two years. And yet we still face billions in red ink going forward,” said Adams. “Andrew Russo will be a voice for change in Albany which cannot continue with business as usual.”

Andrew Russo's opponent, Sen. David Valesky, scored a mere 25 percent on The Business Council's Voters' Guide, available here.

Andrew Russo supports the Business Council's Enough Already NY campaign's Five to Survive economic reform agenda which includes: a property tax cap; a state spending cap; reducing the tax burden; reforming public employee pensions and limiting government borrowing.

The endorsement comes through the Business Council's Political Action Committee.
