Statement on the Proposal to Increase the MTA's Mobility Payroll Tax
“The Business Council of New York State, on behalf of its membership, opposes any increases to the MTA’s Mobility Payroll Tax (MPT) and the surcharges on the utility, corporate franchise, and insurance corporation taxes as combined, through the MPT, businesses already pay more than $5 billion annually in taxes dedicated to supporting the MTA. Employers in and around New York City do not need another cost increase as they are fighting to get back to pre-pandemic prosperity.”
