In late August, Governor Cuomo announced the 16 winners who formed public-private partnerships to receive funding for The NYS Pathways in Technology Early College High School (NYS P-TECH). The partnerships will prepare nearly 6,000 students for high-skill jobs in technology, manufacturing and healthcare. Students will earn an associate degree at no cost to their families and will be first in line for jobs with participating companies when they graduate.
New York State is the first in the nation to implement a statewide “P-TECH” initiative that links education to regional economic development. The Business Council collaborated with IBM, the Governor's office, the State Education Department, and the State University of New York, earlier this year to implement the program - funded in the 2013-2014 New York State Budget – to support the formation of 10 new P-TECH schools in each of New York's economic development regions.

Winning partnerships were selected through a highly competitive process and represent leading industries in each of the state's 10 Regional Economic Development Council areas.
