The Business Council of New York State Announces Winner of Inaugural National Civics Bee New York State Finals
Top Three Finishers Head to National Event in Washington, D.C.

ALBANY – The Business Council of New York State is proud to announce Brody Steward of Victor representing the Greater Rochester Chamber as the winner of the inaugural National Civics Bee New York State Competition. Brody now advances to the national finals in Washington, D.C., along with second-place finisher Jill Perazzo (Staten Island) and third-place finisher Isaiah Ocansey (Warwick Valley).

The innovative competition, modeled on traditional spelling and geography bees, took place at the Albany Capital Center on May 30th. Twelve students from across four regions of New York State who had won local competitions competed in the finals.

"Congratulations to all three participants who are headed to Washington D.C. to make New York State proud," said Heather Mulligan, President and CEO of The Business Council of New York State. "As a business organization, we believe it's important to inspire the next generation of leaders to actively participate in civic life and, from an early age, contribute positively to their communities. We hope this event has encouraged students to become informed, engaged citizens who are passionate about making a difference."
