The Business Council of New York State Announces Inaugural

“Coolest Thing Made in New York" Contest to Highlight Innovation and Manufacturing Excellence Statewide

State-wide Manufacturers Encouraged to Apply by July 21 Deadline

ALBANY – The Business Council of New York State Inc. is proud to launch the “Coolest Thing Made in New York" contest, a statewide initiative aimed at spotlighting the innovation, creativity, and manufacturing excellence of businesses across the state. This exciting competition will provide a platform for manufacturers to showcase their products and highlight their vital role in driving New York's economy forward.

The ”Coolest Thing Made in New York" contest is open to all manufacturers, not just members of The Business Council. It will feature products made in New York State, ranging from cutting-edge technology and advanced machinery to crafts and consumer goods.

"We are excited to launch the “Coolest Thing Made in New York” contest and let the public get an opportunity to see what we see: a strong sector that provides jobs and creates unique and useful products for government, business, and everyday consumers,” said Heather Mulligan, President & CEO, The Business Council of New York State Inc.  “Through this contest, we celebrate the ingenuity of New York's manufacturing sector while promoting awareness of the industry’s role in economic growth and job creation. This contest is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done by manufacturers across New York."

The Contest

Application Process

Manufacturers are encouraged to apply by the July 21 deadline and submit their products for voting. The simple four step process is meant to encourage applications.

Voting Process

All entries will be part of the first ‘popular’ vote to narrow the field down to the top 16 selections. From there, the contest transforms into a bracket-style head-to-head competition format, with manufacturers competing against each other in weekly matchups. Weekly winners will be decided by a public vote on the contest’s website, allowing New Yorkers to have a direct say in determining the coolest product made in the state.

Winning Business

Voting will take place from July 29 to September 19, with the field of applicants narrowing each week. The Business Council will announce the contest winner on September 19th at our Annual Meeting at the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing. The winning business will also be a stop on this year’s ‘Made in New York Manufacturing Bus Tour,’ a week-long bus tour of different manufacturing businesses around New York state.

"We believe that by engaging the public in the voting process, we can raise awareness of the innovative products made in New York and generate excitement about our state's manufacturing industry," Mulligan added. "We encourage all New York manufacturers to apply and all New Yorkers to participate in the voting process to show support for their favorite products and help us showcase the incredible talent and creativity of our state's manufacturers."

How to Get Involved

Manufacturers interested in participating in the “Coolest Thing Made in New York" contest can submit their products for consideration starting June 24. The application process will close on July 21.
