MVP's Denise Gonick elected to Business Council of New York State board of directors

Schenectady, N.Y. — Denise Gonick, president and CEO of MVP Health Care, was recently elected to the board of directors of The Business Council of New York State.

“The Business Council is pleased to welcome Ms. Gonick to our board of directors. Her expertise will greatly contribute to, and help shape, The Council's mission to create economic growth, good jobs and strong communities,” said Heather C. Briccetti, Esq., president and CEO of The Business Council.

The Business Council of New York State is a statewide business organization whose membership base encompasses businesses — ranging from Fortune 500 to small business, Chambers of Commerce, non-profits, and educational institutions, and more — working to create economic growth, good jobs and strong communities across New York. It advocates for policies that will improve New York's business climate and help member companies meet their business needs.

Ms. Gonick became president and CEO of MVP Health Care in December 2012. She also served MVP in various positions over the years including president of operations, executive vice president, administrative services and chief legal officer. Prior to her tenure at MVP, Ms. Gonick worked at Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield in addition to practicing public sector labor law, representing the State of New York at the Governor's Office of Employee Relations, and the School Administrators Association of New York State.

Ms. Gonick is a trustee of Union Graduate College where she also serves on the Finance Committee. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Economic Growth, HealtheConnections in Syracuse, the New York Health Plan Association and Proctors Theatre in Schenectady.

Ms. Gonick is a graduate of Hofstra University with a bachelor's degree in Creative Studies and earned her JD from Albany Law School. She completed the America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Executive leadership Program and is a Certified Managed Care Executive (CMCE).
