Memorial service for Raymond T. Schuler set for Jan. 8 in Albany

The family of Raymond T. Schuler has announced that a public memorial service for Mr. Schuler will be held at 3 p.m. next Monday, January 8, at historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill in Albany, New York.

Bishop Howard Hubbard will be the principal celebrant at the Memorial Mass. Former Gov. Hugh L. Carey and Congressman Amory Houghton, Jr., will offer remembrances.

Schuler, the founding president of The Business Council and a former New York State Commissioner of Transportation, died on November 24 the age of 71, after an eight-year battle with cancer. A funeral service was held in Boca Grande, Florida, where he and his wife, Patricia, had moved after he retired in 1988.

St. Mary's Church is located at the corner of Lodge St. and Pine St on Capitol Hill in Albany. Directions are as follows:

From North: I-87 (Northway) to I-90 East. Exit at I-787 South. Exit at Clinton Ave. At second light, take left onto North Pearl St. Take Pearl St. to Pine St. and make a right. Follow Pine St. for two blocks; St. Mary's will be on the right.

From South: New York State Thruway to Exit 23, then take I-787 North. Exit at Route 20 West and turn right onto Broadway. Take Broadway to State St. and make left. Take State to Lodge St. and make a right. Follow for one block to Pine Stl; St. Mary's will be on the right.

From East: I-90 to I-787 South. Exit at Clinton Ave. At second light, take left onto North Pearl St. Take Pearl St. to Pine St. and make a right. Follow Pine St. for two blocks; St. Mary's will be on the right.

From West: I-90 to I-787 South. Exit at Clinton Ave. At second light, take left onto North Pearl St. Take Pearl St. to Pine St. and make a right. Follow Pine St. for two blocks; St. Mary's will be on the right.
