New York State has introduced a new Web site designed to be a "one-stop shop" for small businesses that need or want to interact with state government in order to start or expand in New York.

Empire State Development designed the new site with input from key state agencies. Its goal is to provide information on, and quick links to, various programs and services for small businesses. The site includes:

  • Information and links are provided on such matters as on-line permits and licenses, access to business counselors, and tax and finance issues.
  • Links to sites with advice on developing a business plan, structuring business finances, marketing, securing licenses and understanding business regulations, taxes, finding and hiring employees, and other issues.
  • A calendar of events listing courses on different areas of management. This calendar is searchable by region of the state, by category, and by month.
  • Links to relevant news stories, releases, and publications produced by state agencies.
