New York State will highlight the contributions of New York State's local and regional chambers of commerce during Chamber of Commerce Week Sept. 15-22.

The week-long celebration is intended to promote awareness of the role of chambers in building local economies and communities, said Daniel B. Walsh, president/CEO of The Business Council.

"We've always been proud of the relationship between our statewide organization and local chambers of commerce in communities and counties around the state," Walsh said.

The event is being promoted by local chambers and by the the Chamber Alliance of New York State, an association of executives of local and regional chambers of commerce.

"In recent years, The Business Council and local chambers have been working together closely to convince government officials at all levels that continuing improvements to our business climate are vital to the economic well-being and prosperity of all New Yorkers," said Beth Coleman, president of the Greater Southern Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Chamber Alliance of New York State.

Activities planned by chambers around the state include office tours, board recognition programs, media events, and various membership gatherings.
