Council to reprise successful seminar on doing IT business with New York State

The Business Council reprise a popular seminar designed to help New York's high-tech businesses sell information-technology products and services to the state.

The seminar, "Doing IT Business with New York State, Today and Tomorrow," will run from 8:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Meeting Room 6 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. The same seminar, first offered last March, sold out.

The Procurement Services Group of the state Office of General Services (OGS) and the Rockefeller Institute of Governor are co-sponsors.

The goal is to help participants understand the state's IT contracting processes for information technology products and services, said Diana Ehrlich, The Council's specialist in state procurement issues.

The agenda includes:

. On overview of OGS procurement procedures.

. An explanation of The Contract Reporter, a weekly state publication that is the official announcement of contracting opportunities involving state entities that have an estimated worth of $15,000 or more.

. A presentation on the state's strategy and outlook in information technology investments.

. A session on hardware and software contracting with OGS.

. A discussion of different agency perspectives on issues with contracting. Officials from the state Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities and the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will present.
