The Made in New York website was created to highlight Business Council members and the many diverse products and services they make and provide. Our hope in doing this is to increase awareness of the great companies that are the backbone of New York's economy.

The site currently features nearly 400 companies from across the state, whose products range from food items and textiles to circuit boards and microchips. While the thrust of the site is to showcase manufacturers, it also features companies that sell products or provide services in the state, as well as tourist destinations and educational institutions that are unique to New York.

"Consumers who buy products and services sold by New York companies are actively helping to create jobs and strengthen our economy," said Heather Briccetti, president and CEO of The Business Council. "Our new website is a terrific way to highlight and promote the wide range of products made by companies here in New York. We believe that by working together and buying ‘Made in New York,' we can make a difference one purchase at a time.”

“The Made in New York website will be an invaluable tool to promote business growth and showcase the extraordinary array of key services and successful companies that New York has to offer. I congratulate The Business Council for once again being a strong advocate for the needs of the business community,” said Kenneth Adams, president & CEO and commissioner of Empire State Development.

“The Made in New York website is a wonderful opportunity for Harden to differentiate from our mostly off-shore competition,” said Greg Harden, CEO of Harden Furniture, Inc. “Nothing is more important than the Internet when consumers are researching a purchase, and nothing carries more weight than a third party endorsement. This is another example of The Business Council supporting their members and promoting New York State businesses in general.”

“As the largest private employer in rural Schoharie County, Kintz Plastics has chosen to remain in New York State despite lucrative offers from other states,” said Wynn Kintz, President of Kintz Plastics Inc., located in Howes Cave, “The Made in New York website will provide yet another important tool in helping us retain our competitiveness. Thank you, Business Council.”

Corning Incorporated, one of the oldest businesses in the United States, has called New York State its home throughout its colorful 160-year history,” said G. Thomas Tranter, president of Corning Enterprises and one of The Business Council's newest board members. “Our global headquarters and our key research and development facility remain committed to the Corning area. Nearby, a major manufacturing plant that makes heavy-duty diesel filters which control emissions on vehicles in the U.S. and overseas are made in our Diesel Plant in Erwin, New York. Corning also has several facilities in various locations throughout the state, with a statewide workforce exceeding 6,000 employees.”

“Made in New York is a great opportunity to showcase the innovation of entrepreneurs and skilled workers who offer one-of-a-kind products. Their businesses are an integral part of the distinctive character of New York,” said Barbara Ann Heegan, executive director of the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce.

“We appreciate The Business Council featuring our historic motorsports facility on the Made in New York website,” said Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. “We are truly a New York-made business and have been since 1948. The Glen is a world-class racing venue and New York's only stop for NASCAR's premier series – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The Business Council's support is tremendous and provides The Glen an opportunity to highlight all we have to offer right here in New York State.”

Manufacturers in New York account for some 420,000 jobs, $22 billion in payroll, and $150 billion in shipments in 2010, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

In addition to promoting individual companies and products, the site also promotes business-to-business discounts through which members of The Business Council will enjoy significant savings on products and services offered by fellow members. That feature offers members the opportunity for increased sales and improved bottom lines.
