ALBANY, N.Y.— Several key participants, including New York Public Service Commission (PSC) chair Audrey Zibelman, will take part in a discussion of PSC proceedings intended to create a more efficient and climate-friendly energy policy in New York state during The Business Council of New York State's Annual Meeting, September 18, at 10 a.m., at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY.
“Business as usual just doesn't cut it anymore,” Ms. Zibelman said recently. The commission hopes to produce new “rules of the road for utilities.”
Discussing Reforming Energy Vision (REV) along with Ms. Zibelman will be Robert M. Loughney, an attorney with the Couch White law firm who represents Multiple Intervenors, an association of large industrial, commercial and institutional energy consumers, James S. Madej, senior vice president and chief of customer office for National Grid and Christopher Wentlent, vice president energy policy for Constellation.
“This panel discussion is a unique opportunity for anyone with an interest in the future of energy to hear first-hand from several of the key participants in the proceedings,” said panel moderator Darren Suarez, director of government affairs for The Business Council.
During the Reforming Energy Vision (REV) (CASE 14-M-0101) proceeding, the PSC will examine how existing practices should be modified to enable utilities to actively manage and coordinate distributed energy resources. REV will also provide a market that enables customers to optimize their energy priorities. The proceeding will also examine how the state's regulatory practices could be modified to incentivize a dynamic energy market that is more efficient, less costly, and offers fuel diverse, and reliable.
