The Business Council is surveying its members in the construction industry to evaluate how recent changes in workers compensation law are affecting this industry.
The survey was sent to members of the New York State Construction Industry Council (NYSCIC) May 25, said Johnny Evers, The Councils legislative analyst who oversees the construction industry.
A key area of interest is recent trends in premium costs, especially changes that stem from recent changes to workers comp law.
The survey also asks NYSCIC members how they buy insurance, whether they pay a geographical surcharge, whether their manual rates increased this year, how they comply with reporting requirements, and the percentage of their competitive bids for jobs that reflect insurance costs.
Survey responses will be collected and analyzed over the summer. Final results will be presented in September at The Business Councils Annual Meeting, Evers said.
