ALBANY, N.Y.—The Business Council today appointed Zack Hutchins as the new director of communications for the state’s leading business advocacy organization.

Hutchins has more than a decade of communications and public affairs experience, including five-plus years working for the state Senate Republican’s press operation. Recently, Hutchins served as the manager of congressional and public affairs for the Eastern Region of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In that capacity Hutchins interacted with state and local chambers of commerce and members of Congress in an 11-state region stretching from Maine to Delaware.

Hutchins has also spent time as a producer and reporter at Capital News 9 (now Time Warner Cable News) and as the director of digital communications for Patricia Lynch Associates.

Hutchins is known for implementing innovative and cost-effective communications strategies, including establishing @NYSenate as the nation’s first real-time state legislative twitter feed.

Heather C. Briccetti, Esq., president and CEO of The Business Council said, “We are thrilled to bring Zack Hutchins on board. His familiarity with the inner-workings of the legislative process in Albany and his relationships with reporters and key stakeholders in state government will be an invaluable asset to our organization.”

“I am beyond excited to join The Business Council and its incredible team,” said Hutchins. “I look forward to representing our members and promoting pro-business policies and initiatives across New York State.”

Hutchins is a lifelong resident of Albany and a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
