The premier business group says that by joining the online communities, it can interact more closely with members, quickly letting them know how political issues and policies affect their businesses. The Business Council's Facebook page also provides a listing of job openings from around the State.

“We feel that social media outlets allow us to reach our members as events unfold, and allows them to communicate with us like never before,” said Heather Briccetti, President and CEO of The Business Council. “It means creating an ongoing dialogue about our advocacy efforts to create economic growth and good jobs in New York.”

The Business Council is also available through LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network with more than 120 million members. Sixty-seven percent of small and medium-sized businesses now have Facebook pages, which for many has become the face of their company. The Business Council will be updating each of its social pages with legislative updates, member news and news of interest to all New Yorkers. The advocacy group also has been blogging for several years through its Capital Business Blog.

“The pages are one more way we are working to make New York a better place for business,” said Briccetti.
