ALBANY, N.Y.—The Business Council of New York State, Inc. commends the members and staff of the Gaming Facilities Location Board for conducting a thorough, transparent and comprehensive review of 16 casino license applications. The volunteer Board members heard countless hours of public comments in day-long hearings across the state and spent additional time carefully screening each application, and we greatly appreciate their efforts.
The Business Council has consistently supported the expansion of gaming in the state as part of a broad strategy to create jobs and increase economic activity upstate.
We applaud Governor Cuomo, his administration and the Legislature for making today’s announcement possible and sincerely thank all of the applicants for their investments of time and money in the application process.
We urge the Gaming Commission to move forward on the casino licenses as quickly as possible so that the people of New York State can begin to enjoy the economic benefits that will come with these facilities.
