ALBANY—The Business Council supports Senate proposal to eliminate energy surcharge

The Business Council of New York State, Inc. applauds the State Senate for proposing the elimination of the Section 18-a temporary energy surcharge in its budget proposal for Fiscal 2016.

This provision, set forth in S.4208, Part SS, would repeal the remaining Section 18-a assessment, saving business and residential ratepayers a total of $173 million in 2015 and $134 million in 2016.

Reducing business costs is a key component to growing the state’s economy and creating more private sector jobs.
