ALBANY— The Business Council of New York State, Inc. is endorsing Lee Zeldin (R-C-I) for New York State Senate in the 3rd State Senate District.

“Lee Zeldin is a candidate with the courage and leadership skills to help put New York on the road to recovery. As a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Lee has already sacrificed and given much to his state and country,” said Kenneth Adams, president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State.

“Lee Zeldin understands that we must lower the tax burden on New Yorkers to create jobs and growth in our economy. Here in Suffolk County two of the biggest obstacles to growth are property taxes and the MTA payroll tax. Lee will work to lower the tax burden so that our economy can grow,” added Adams.

“Lee's opponent, Sen. Brian Foley, supported the MTA payroll, a tax directly on jobs. He could have stopped this tax but instead chose to support it,” said Adams.

Lee Zeldin supports the Business Council's Enough Already NY campaign's Five to Survive economic reform agenda which includes: a property tax cap; a state spending cap; reducing the tax burden; reforming public employee pensions and limiting government borrowing.

His opponent incumbent Senator Brian Foley scored a mere 15 percent on The Business Council Voters' Guide, available here.

The endorsement comes through the Business Council's Political Action Committee.
