ALBANY— Two distinguished individuals have been elected to the Business Council of New York State's Board of Directors.
Citizens Bank, New York President James Gaspo and Ecology and Environment, Inc. President and CEO Kevin S. Neumaier, P.E. were elected to the board at its meeting in Albany on January 19, 2010.
“The Business Council is pleased that these two talented individuals will bring their experience and expertise to our Board of Directors,” said Kenneth Adams, president & CEO of The Business Council of New York State. “They will be of great help as we move forward in working to create good jobs and strong communities in New York.”
Gaspo is responsible for the bank's business, community and philanthropic leadership in New York. He joined Citizens Bank in 2004 after spending 10 years as a senior commercial banking officer for KeyBank in Syracuse, N.Y. and Indianapolis. He began his banking career in 1985 as a bank examiner with Irving Trust Company.
Gaspo's graduate and undergraduate degrees are from LeMoyne College. He is a member of the board of directors of the Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area, the board of advisors of CXtec, a global provider of legacy and leading-edge network solutions, the board of trustees of LeMoyne College and is Co-Chair of the Special Olympics 2010 Winter Games. His term runs through 2011.
Neumaier is president and CEO of Ecology and Environment, Inc., (E & E) a $100+ million-per-year, multidisciplinary environmental consulting company. E & E has completed more than 45,000 environmental projects in 84 countries for a wide range of clients – developing innovative solutions to environmental issues in nearly every ecosystem on our planet.
He is a licensed professional engineer with a bachelor's degree from Clarkson University and a master's degree from the University of Buffalo.
He previously served as the company's senior vice president for environmental sustainability and chief information officer. As a specialist in all aspects of energy conservation and environmental sustainability, he understands how these programs can save businesses significant dollars while at the same time benefiting the environment. Neumaier assumed leadership of E & E as president and CEO in 2008.
Under his leadership, E & E was recently named as one of the fastest-growing small public companies by Fortune Small Business and is listed in Engineering News-Record's Top 100 Green Design Firms. His term runs through 2012.
