The Business Council elects two new board members

ALBANY—The Business Council of New York State's Board of Directors has elected two new members, William J. Golden and Gail Grimmett.

“These two extraordinary individuals will be a great asset to The Business Council as we work to create good jobs and strong communities in New York,” said Kenneth Adams, president & CEO of The Business Council of New York State.

William J. Golden is the CEO of UnitedHealthcare of New York, a health plan that covers more than 1.6 million people in the state. He has been responsible for the integration of UnitedHealthcare and Oxford Health Plans.

Golden joined Oxford Health Plans in 1997 as a sales manager in the New York office. Prior to becoming CEO he also served as the company's director of sales, vice president of New York sales and account management and senior vice president of sales.

Golden received his bachelor of science in finance from Hofstra University. He sits on the board of directors of the Each One Counts Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides grants to ease the pain and suffering of chronically ill children.

Gail Grimmett is senior vice president – New York for Delta Air Lines. Based in New York City, Grimmett oversees all key commercial functions and is the highest ranking executive in New York. She leads all marketing, commercial sales, government affairs and community relations efforts in the state.

Previously, she was the senior vice president – revenue management at the company's Atlanta headquarters. Grimmett joined the company 13 years ago and has also served as managing director – investor relations, chief economist of corporate forecasting and director – financial planning.

In 2008, the Atlanta Business Magazine named her one of the “Top 25 Women to Watch” and in 2001, she was named one of Georgia's Corporate Top 100 Most Powerful and Influential Women.
She holds an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and an MBA from George Washington University.
