Business Council Announces Newly Elected Board Members

ALBANY—The Business Council of New York State, Inc. recently announced five members newly elected to serve on its Board of Directors.

Representing a cross section of industries and regions around New York, The Business Council's new directors include: David Anderson, president & CEO, HealthNow New York, Inc.; Warren Colville, publisher, The Buffalo News; Leecia Eve, vice president – New Jersey, New York & Connecticut Region, Verizon Communications; Brian T. Griffin, senior vice president, president & general manager, Empire BlueCross BlueShield; Deba Mukherjee, president & CEO, Finch Paper.

David Anderson serves as president and CEO of HealthNow New York Inc. Prior to joining HealthNow, Mr. Anderson was a regional senior vice president of UnitedHealthcare. Anderson has also worked as senior vice president at Health Net of California and a managing general partner at Barney & Barney, an insurance brokerage firm in San Diego, California.

Warren T. Colville is publisher & president of The Buffalo News. He has been with the newspaper since 1987, moving up successively as vice president and director of advertising to his current leadership role. He has overseen the company's digital expansion, commercial printing and delivery capabilities and previously worked at The Star-Ledger in Newark, N.J. and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune in Sarasota, Fla.

Leecia Eve is Verizon's vice president - state government affairs for New Jersey, New York & Connecticut where she is responsible for the company's public policy, government and external affairs, and regulatory issues across the three states. Before joining Verizon, she was the deputy secretary for economic development for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Eve also previously served in the Cuomo administration as executive vice president and general counsel of Empire State Development.

Brian Griffin is president and CEO of Empire BlueCross BlueShield, New York's largest health benefits company, providing insurance to nearly 5 million New Yorkers. He is responsible for managing the plan's small and large group and individual business, and oversees the development of the company's long-term strategic direction. Brian brings a wealth of experience and extensive market knowledge to his role at Empire. An industry leader with more than 30 years of healthcare experience, he has held senior leadership positions with Medco Health Solutions, US Healthcare and Express Scripts.

Deba Mukherjee, Ph.D. is president and CEO of Finch Paper LLC. He has vast experience as a developer of specialty papers and is a driver of innovation in the modern manufacturing environment, jointly holding three patents related to inkjet printing technologies. Prior to joining Finch Paper he held various positions with worldwide paper manufacturer P.H. Glatfelter, where he served as vice president and general manager of specialty papers.
