ALBANY, N.Y.—“This proposal by the state Department of Labor is more of a political statement than a reflection of economic reality,” said Heather C. Briccetti, Esq., president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State, Inc. “First and foremost, this proposal will impose significant additional payroll costs on affected employers. Government-imposed costs matter, and this proposal will have an adverse impact on employers, and their employees. Second, but just as important, the employees who will be directly impacted by this change do not want it. That is clear by the outcry we have heard from across the state and at today’s rally.”
