Albany, NY—October 21, 2014—The Political Action Committee of The Business Council of New York State has endorsed challengers in four Senate district races, and candidates for three open Senate seats.

The Business Council PAC endorsed four challengers in Senate races; Terrence Murphy (R) in Senate District 40 (Duchess Putnam and Westchester Counties); Susan Serino (R) in Senate District 41 (Duchess and Putnam Counties); George Amedore (R) in Senate District 46 (Albany, Greene, Montgomery, Schenectady and Ulster Counties); and Richard Funke (R) in Senate District 55 (Monroe and Ontario Counties).

The Business Council PAC endorsed three candidates in Senate races with open seats; Thomas Crocci (R) in Senate District 3 (Suffolk County); Michael Venditto (R) in Senate District 8 (Nassau and Suffolk Counties); and Robert Ortt (R) in Senate District 62 (Monroe, Niagara and Orleans Counties).

“Our endorsements of challengers and candidates running in races for open Senate seats are based on these candidates' intent to support The Business Council's pro-growth policies, and in several cases, the candidates' pro-growth performance in other public offices,” said Heather C. Briccetti, president and CEO of The Business Council.

The Business Council PAC has added Senator Jeffrey Klein (IDC, Bronx) and Senator Martin Golden (R, Brooklyn) to its list of endorsed State Senators seeking re-election based on their performance on The Business Council Legislative Scorecard for the 2013 and 2014 Legislative Session.

With the endorsements of the seven candidates and Senators Klein and Golden, The Business Council PAC has concluded its endorsement process for the 2014 election cycle.
